Spring Hill Farm Fleeces and Processed Fleeces

Raw Fleeces

Spring Hill Farm is dedicated to producing the finest in handspinning fleeces. Our management program is geared to producing clean fleeces with bold character and high lustre. Our color selection ranges from creamy Romney white to various shades of grey and includes an unusual off-white variant we call 'Oatmeal'.

Our fleeces have been judged Champions at most of the major and minor fairs throughout the Northwest and the North American International Livestock Exhibition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. They can also be seen (and purchased) at The Shepherds Extravaganza in Puyallup in April, and the Shepherds Festival in Sequim, WA in May. Fleeces and other wool products are always available for viewing and purchase here at the farm or on this website. We also open up the barn and have a Harvest Sale in early October. Take a look below for fleeces available now.

FLEECES ARE LABELED BY THE SHEEP'S FLOCK NUMBER. IF THE NUMBER IS THE SAME AS A FLEECE YOU PREVIOUSLY SAW OR BOUGHT, IT IS FROM THE SAME SHEEP.

PROCESSED FLEECES

Batts, Roving, & Combed Top

For those of you who want to spin or use wool in fiber arts projects, but don't have the facilities, tools, or time to wash and card fleeces, we have products for you too. We carry a large variety of washed and carded wool batts, roving, and combed top (combed top is wool that has been run thru a series of combs to super align the fibers. It is extra soft and smooth and is perfect for spinning worsted yarn). Some of these are pictured below. We promise you'll love them. Romney is just ideal to spin for either the beginner or expert. We know several spinning instructors who use Romney for teaching because it's so easy to handle. Carded wool batts and roving are also ideal for felting projects. Again, if you see something you like, check here for [Ordering Information ]

Maybe you've seen our beautiful Oatmeal fleeces but didn't want to wash and card. Well, here's your chance to try some without that work.

Carded batting has a multitude of uses. Pulled off in strips it is wonderfully easy to use for woolen type spinning.
You can also use small sections laid out for flat felting or roll up pieces for needlefelting figures.
Remember, it is very light weight in relation to it's volume. Most sweaters only take 1 1/2- 2 lb of yarn depending on size and design. We usually have batts available in white and pale to dark grey. Although most of the batts are sold whole, we may have smaller batts in some of the same colors. Please e-mail for more info at SPRING HILL FARM.
